Fault Tracking

Faults are issues, defects, or problems identified with assets. Taskr provides comprehensive fault tracking from reporting through resolution.

Accessing Faults

Navigate to Assets > Faults or go to /faults

Understanding Faults

What is a Fault?

A fault is any issue that:
  • Affects asset operation
  • Requires attention or repair
  • Impacts compliance or safety
  • Needs documentation

Filtering Faults

Quick Filters:
  • Status: Open, Investigating, Resolved, Closed
  • Priority: Critical, High, Medium, Low
  • Asset Type: Filter by equipment type
  • Location: Filter by site

Reporting a Fault

From the Faults List

  1. Go to Faults
  2. Click Report Fault
  3. Complete the form
  4. Submit

From an Asset

  1. Open asset detail
  2. Click Report Fault
  3. Asset is pre-linked
  4. Enter fault details
  5. Submit

From a Job

  1. While on a job
  2. Find an issue
  3. Click Report Fault
  4. Job and asset linked automatically

Fault Information Fields

Basic Information

Classification

Status

Priority Levels

Critical

Definition: Immediate safety hazard or complete system failure Examples:
  • Fire safety equipment non-functional
  • Safety system failure
  • Imminent danger
Expected response: Immediate (within hours)

High

Definition: Major malfunction affecting operations Examples:
  • Equipment partially working
  • Compliance risk
  • Business impact
Expected response: Same day

Medium

Definition: Issue requiring attention but not urgent Examples:
  • Reduced performance
  • Maintenance needed
  • Minor malfunction
Expected response: Within a week

Low

Definition: Minor issues, improvements, cosmetic Examples:
  • Cosmetic damage
  • Documentation updates
  • Enhancement requests
Expected response: When convenient

Status Flow

Status Definitions

Changing Status

  1. Open fault detail
  2. Click Update Status or status field
  3. Select new status
  4. Add notes explaining change
  5. Save

Working with Faults

Assigning Faults

  1. Open fault detail
  2. Find Assigned To field
  3. Select team member
  4. They receive notification

Adding Notes

Document investigation and progress:
  1. Open fault detail
  2. Go to Notes section
  3. Click Add Note
  4. Enter update
  5. Save

Attaching Photos

  1. Open fault detail
  2. Go to Attachments tab
  3. Upload photos/documents
  4. Add descriptions

Creating Jobs from Faults

Generate Repair Job

  1. Open fault detail
  2. Click Create Job
  3. Job pre-populated with:
    • Fault description
    • Asset information
    • Customer/location
  4. Complete job details
  5. Create job

Linking Existing Jobs

If a job already exists:
  1. Open fault detail
  2. Click Link Job
  3. Search for existing job
  4. Select and link

Resolving Faults

Resolution Process

  1. Investigate: Determine root cause
  2. Fix: Implement solution
  3. Document: Record what was done
  4. Update Status: Mark as resolved
  5. Close: After verification

When resolving, record:

After resolution is verified:
  1. Review resolution notes
  2. Confirm fix is permanent
  3. Change status to Closed
  4. Add final notes if needed

Can’t Find Fault

  1. Clear filters
  2. Search by ID or description
  3. Check date range
  4. Verify status filter

Status Won’t Update

  1. Check required fields
  2. Verify permissions
  3. Add required resolution notes

Fault Won’t Close

Some systems require:
  • Resolution notes completed
  • All fields filled
  • Verification step completed
