It’s your first day using Taskr. You’ve been assigned a routine fire extinguisher inspection at a commercial building. Your supervisor wants you to:- Complete the inspection
- Log your time accurately
- Document your work properly
- Report any issues found

👣 Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Step 1: Check Your Schedule (2 minutes)
What you’re doing: Finding out what jobs you have today.-
Log in to Taskr
- Open your browser or the Taskr app
- Enter your email and password
- You’ll land on the Overview page

Navigate to your jobs
- Click Operations in the left sidebar
- Click Jobs in the submenu
- You’ll see a list of all jobs

Filter to your assignments
- Look for the Filters area at the top
- Find “Assigned To” and select your name
- (Or look for “My Jobs” quick filter)

Review today’s job
- Look for jobs scheduled for today
- Click on the job to see details
Step 2: Review Job Details (3 minutes)
What you’re doing: Understanding what you need to do.-
Read the job description
- Look at the work required section
- Note any special instructions

Check the location details
- Click on the Location link
- Review:
- Full address
- Access instructions (key code, who to contact)
- Any notes about the site

Review the assets
- Click on the Assets tab
- See which fire extinguishers need inspection
- Note their locations within the building
Step 3: Arrive and Check In (1 minute)
What you’re doing: Letting the system know you’ve started work.-
Open the job on your phone
- Use the search (
Cmd/Ctrl + K) and type the job number - Or navigate through Operations > Jobs
- Use the search (

Update the status
- Click the Status dropdown
- Change from “Scheduled” to “In Progress”
- This logs when you started

Start the timer
- Click the Start Timer button
- The timer begins counting
- You can see it running in the top bar
Step 4: Complete Your Work (main task)
What you’re doing: The actual inspection work. While you complete your inspection, Taskr runs in the background. The timer continues automatically. During your work, you might:- Check the asset list to track which extinguishers you’ve inspected
- Refer to the location details if you can’t find something
Step 5: Document Your Work (5 minutes)
What you’re doing: Recording what you did and found.Adding Progress Notes
- Open the job (if not already open)
- Go to the Progress section
- Click “Add Update”
- Select the update type: “Work Note”
- Enter your notes:
- Click Save
Uploading Photos
- Go to the Attachments tab
- Click Upload (or tap the camera icon on mobile)
- Take or select photos:
- Overall shots of each area
- Close-up of any issues
- Updated compliance tags
- Add descriptions to each photo
- “Ground floor - all 4 extinguishers, west wall”
- “Level 2 - Unit #8 pressure gauge showing low”
- “Updated compliance tag - Unit #1”
Step 6: Report Any Issues Found (if applicable)
What you’re doing: Creating a formal record of a problem. During your inspection, you found one extinguisher with low pressure. Let’s report it:-
From the job, click “Report Fault”
- Or go to the asset and click “Report Fault”

Fill in the fault details:
- Attach the photo you took of the gauge
- Click Submit
- Linked to this job
- Linked to the specific asset
- Visible to your office team
- Tracked until resolved
Step 7: Complete the Job (2 minutes)
What you’re doing: Finishing up and marking work complete.-
Stop the timer
- Click Stop Timer
- Review the duration (e.g., “1 hour 45 minutes”)
- The time entry is created automatically

Review your time entry
- Check the start and end times are correct
- Add a description if prompted:
- Click Save

Update job status
- Click the Status dropdown
- Change from “In Progress” to “Completed”

Add completion notes (if prompted):
- Click Complete

🔄 Variations
What if the customer isn’t there?
- Check the access instructions in the location details
- Call the contact number listed
- If you can’t access, add a note and contact your office
- Don’t mark as complete - leave as “Scheduled” or put “On Hold”
What if you find a critical issue?
- Report the fault immediately with Critical priority
- Call your supervisor/office
- Document thoroughly with photos
- The customer may need to be notified right away
What if the job takes longer than expected?
- Keep the timer running - accurate time is important
- Add a progress note explaining why
- Contact office if you’ll be late to next job
- Never inflate or deflate your actual time

Q: What if I forget to start the timer?Add a manual time entry later. Go to Time Tracker, click “Add Entry,” and enter the actual times you worked.Q: Should I take photos of everything?
At minimum: one overview of work area, any issues found, and proof of completion (like updated tags). More is better than less.Q: What if I notice something wrong with the job info?
Add a note in the job, but don’t change the original details yourself. Let the office know so they can update records.Q: The app is slow/not loading - what do I do?
Note your start/end times on paper. Add them manually when connectivity improves. The work isn’t lost - just the real-time tracking.
